Mercedes Benz GLK FreeSide
At this rate Mercedes will be no developments present in the Hall of Detroit, but seeing what we have almost over, so filtration should be more a nuisance than a real problem. And that, if not calculated in advance. The latest model that they have been spared by the gatera (very large) is the GLK Freeside, a prototype theoretically modelled its future compact crossover.
Like the concepts used by Mercedes Vision to advance future commercial products, this "show car" is more of a pre-production unit of a design studio. Something very evident when compared with the final model that sneaks into the shooting of Sex and the City. It can be said that the tagline Freeside dangerously similar to Freelander, it will be the sole prototype. Or so we believe. More photos and any official information in the very near future.
After several photos spies and leaks, Mercedes-Benz finally realized that it was better to make the Vision GLK Freeside something official. Anyway, we will not see this new compact SUV (or crossover) in person until the start of the Hall of Detroit. With 4.51 meters long, the GLK is only 5 mm smaller than a BMW X3. Its design takes lines of his elder brother, GL, but these do not fit at all but a body shorter.
The GLK Vision carries under the hood of the latest version 2.2 liter engine turbodiésel four-cylinder, which uses fourth generation of common rail injection system. This unit delivers 168 horsepower, controlled by an automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC seven speeds. Mercedes has improved traction comprehensive system 4MATIC permanent, reducing friction to a point where it is as efficient as if the traction out only two of the wheels. Also part of the equipment are the safety system PRE-SAFE, the ILS intelligent lighting system, the center of entertainment and information COMAND APS, an entertainment system with two screens for the rear seats and control of temperature THERMOTRONIC three zones.
The GLK Vision will make its appearance in European dealers during the autumn of this year, while in the United States, which will be submitted within a few days, will arrive in early 2009.
